Update

After a few days trial and errors I fully got the arduino interacting with max MSP, so now all my switches work, and they all controll the visuals.

Below is just a quick video of how it works and also the how it is hooked up to the arduino at this current point.

The setup

The best thing about this installation is that it can pretty much be set up any where since it is not location based.

The preferred setup is to project from above on to the actual object. so when someone comes to mess around with it they will not be in the way of the projection.

Visual Update

I started making the Max/MSP patch that is used to compliment my physical design. While the MAX MSP patch that sets up the Arduino Layout with max was not made by myself, but the visuals were. Anyways the idea here is to change the visuals as the switches are switched.

Here is a video of what I mean, see how the visuals change with a click of a button, that is whats going to happen when the user flicks the switches.

Thanks to the extension I now have time to add some sounds to this already superb installation!! YAY

Huge update

Hello, this is just a big update because I have been done alot on this project in the last few days. So its still in development stage at this point, I plan to make everything in this project nothing is is already made (except for the switches)

Concept #00001

Here is a concept that I have been tossing around in my head for a while, this will be an interactive music piece using Arduino and max/msp.

The idea here is a look at how trying to create designs that can blend into the environment has effected the way we design things, which is connected with sustainability.

The way this will be created is that I will have 3 examples of plant, 1 will be real, 1 will be fake and the third one will be a mixture of both. Behind these will be a visual piece created by max msp, infront of each "plant" will be a button that will add some kind of visual and sound to the max msp visual piece. These can all over lap, so this will be interactive and even possibly fun.

since this design is not specific to a spot, it can be placed anywhere in the building, possibly a place where there is traffic.

Test Video

Here is a quick video of the arduino board interacting with MAX MSP in real time, sorry about the crappy quality, but only the school's web cam's were available at the time.

This vedoe shows how it can "Output", I am still ironing out the "input" but so far it has worked... kind of.

Got alot of progress

Yesterday I actually managed to hook up the arduino board to max msp, which ment that both could actually fully interact with one another! You could send or receive information from the arduino board in real time! So this opened up alot of possibilities I can consider. I will upload a video on this tomorrow

Update

While I dont yet have a solid idea of what I want to do with the arduino, I do know what I want to use, which is MAX/MSP.

I found some really great information about how to combine the arduino and max msp. The greate thing about this is that I may be able to create a more visual experience with the micro controller and max masp.

http://www.mdhosale.com/md_arduino/ Is a great example of how to combine max msp and arduino.
